Now the football is over...

Semi-final night was gig night, a strange feeling knowing the set start time was dependent on extra time or penalties... Fred's Ale House was hosting Levy Festival and mindful of the result we played a mellower set than it might have been. Thanks to Dave for doing a superb job with the sound and to Fred's and the Levy Festival organisers for inviting us and Nina Gerstenberger for playing a superb opening set and to everyone that wanted to make their evening longer. Late start, late finish, great gig - thanks everyone.
Three songs on their debut

Set List:

Last Orders
Uhrwerk
Leaf Blower
Day In Day Out
Smokescreen
Charlotte
Impossible Past
Love
Seen It All Before
Little Miss Restless
Always Seems To Fall
I'm Real
and
Femme Fatale

acoustic single - instant download

Seen It All Before, the acoustic version.
The new digital single, plus three bonus tracks.

Languid and sultry, summer bleached and weather worn, let it wash over you; dive in here

Instant download of Seen It All Before and the other three tracks on release date.

Slower, longer and a different feel. Not just a remix with the guitar part changed this is a completely separate recording. Everything has changed...

Recorded during the Everything Changes sessions, this single augments the album and effectively turns it into the deluxe version. All four tracks for £1.

acoustic set and more

Our first acoustic gig for fifteen months was on Saturday, the clouds parted and the sun shone making it a glorious day, thanks to Whalley Range Festival for having us and thanks to so many people for turning out it was great to see you all. Sunday was an early start for a full-band photo-shoot with multiple locations, it was suitably grey and grisly weather for the central Manchester site and then on to Elizabeth Gaskell's House (massive thanks to them for allowing permission to use the interior of their fantastic building - which deserves to be far more widely known). We will put some pictures up as soon as we get them, until then a couple from Saturday:

Set List:
Love
The Wargame
Checkered Land
Seen It All Before
Day In Day Out

Relaxing in the shade after our set, we played as a duo for a change.

Live in session

The Speed Of Sound live in session on Caroline Boyd ALLFM 96.9

Acoustic live radio session and plenty of chitchat with The Speed Of Sound and Caroline Boyd on a hot Tuesday Evening in July. Technical gremlins meant the session was only archived for listen-again today. Give it a go.
What 'influence tracks' did John, Kevin and Pete pick?
What makes them tick?
With live versions of Checkered Land and Love.
We are on from 10'30" til 50'00"

there are some session photos here: Link to post from 15th July

two Live acoustic sets

The remarkable Billy Seagrave took some fabulous pictures during A Slice Of Nice at TV21 on Sunday 30th March. He’s terrific at catching ‘the moment’ and capturing the essence of live music.

The songs given the stripped down arrangement treatment on the day were:

The Wargame
Love
Checkered Land
Only Everything
Chalk Circle
Girl On The Roof
Sit By The River
There’s No One There

We also played a short set at The Blue Cat in Heaton Moor on Monday 24th March 2014:

The Wargame
Love
Checkered Land
There’s No One There

Thanks to both venues to and everyone that came down for their support

(and thanks to whoever painted the space-girls mural)

There is something about f-holes

...it must be that Man Ray photograph

A vintage Antoria acoustic 6-string; from a house-clearance shop in 1985. The bridge is not the original one, changing it dropped the action to a more sensible height. It has a rather nice tone.
