New drummer Pete, two practices in and then a gig.
Fearless and confident, but that's because he's good.
Welcome.

Kevin, relaxed and ready - the Bass Rock  - poised with plectrum in mouth, ready to rumble rib-cages with the low notes.

Thanks to Night and Day for having us, sound engineer Jimmy (monitor sound was great first time) and to the people that turned out to see us. Much appreciated.

Next one scheduled is this...
and we can't wait:

Night and Day

We're playing a showcase at Manchester's Night and Day on 25 May (Bank Holiday Sunday) it's free to get in and doors are at eight pm.
And, we will have a different drummer: Many thanks to Raoul for occupying the drum chair since August last year. He is a multi-instrumentalist and is concentrating on his solo projects, so, come and say hello to Pete.

It's sounding good.

Night and Day has been putting on live music for decades, but is now under threat because of a Noise Abatement Notice arising from a complaint by one neighbour who moved in next door to Night and Day last year and thinks its too noisy. This is a completely ludicrous situation. There is a petition if you want to get involved in making sure a piece of Manchester's musical history stays live Here Support live music.

Live - There's No One There - The Speed Of Sound

There's No One There is a strangely uplifting anthem of misery and angst, written in 1983 it predates The Speed Of Sound and has been in the live set since the beginning. The world can be a dark place, but when the tide is too strong just concentrate on staying afloat and never worry about something you can't do anything about etc, etc, etc. Enough of that – play the song now:

There's No One There

It seems there's nothing I can depend on
There's no one I can rely on
I can't even try to escape
I know I'm trapped and I know I'm alone
There's no one there, there's no one there

I can't do anything in the state I'm in
It'd help to talk but no one's listening
I know I'm slowly losing my mind
I know I'm trapped and I know I'm alone
There's no one there, there's no one there

Depressions's got a hold on me
Nothing I can do can set me free
I can't even try to escape
I know I'm trapped I'm on my own
There's no one there, there's no one there

There's no way out of this abyss, there's no escape from this dream-scape
There's no release from this quagmire, there's no rescue because the fates conspire
There's no one there, there's no one there

There's no way out of this abyss, there's no escape from this dream-scape
There's no release from this quagmire, there's no rescue because the fates conspire
There's no one there, there's no one there

It seems there's nothing I can depend on
There's no one I can rely on
I can't even try to escape
I know I'm trapped and I know I'm alone
There's no one there, there's no one there
